The Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and Use of the Bundeswehr (BAAINBw) has signed two contracts for new medical products for the medical service. With the two agreements, which are financed regularly from the defense budget, the previously used materials will be replaced and the equipment will be upgraded to the current medical standard.
For the project of new off-road casualty transport vehicles, 294 mobile stretchers have been ordered. The contract partner is the company Stryker GmbH & Co. KG, which will deliver M1 Roll-In stretchers to the Bundeswehr. In addition to military use, the stretchers can also be used on civilian vehicles of the medical service. They are also intended for emergency care in hospitals and mobile medical facilities of the Bundeswehr. The first deliveries are set to begin next week and be completed by 2027. The contract is worth around 2.5 million euros.
An additional 15 stretchers will be procured immediately for the exchange stock. Through appropriate stockpiling, replacement or additional capacities can be quickly accessed when needed.
A newly signed framework contract with the company B. Braun Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG allows the procurement of up to 1,733 infusion syringe pumps. The award process, including bidding and contract signing, took only about four months, considering the specified deadlines. Delivery of 533 devices is expected to take place this year. The new syringe pumps replace the previous systems that are no longer supported by the manufacturer. With the help of the devices, medications, injections, and infusions can be consistently dosed and automatedly administered to a patient, relieving the emergency services. The newly procured syringe pumps are used in the protected and unprotected vehicles of the green fleet of the medical service of the Bundeswehr. The contract, running until 2027, is worth around 3.5 million euros and also includes training for specialized personnel.
