The Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and Use of the Bundeswehr (BAAINBw) is procuring another twelve Panzerhaubitzen 2000 (PzH 2000). A corresponding option call from a framework contract was signed yesterday by the President of the Bundeswehr Procurement Office, Annette Lehnigk-Emden. The project was approved by the Budget Committee of the German Bundestag one day earlier.
Already at the end of March, ten PzH 2000 were ordered by the BAAINBw from the industry under a framework contract. With today's implementation of the option, twelve more and a total of 22 self-propelled howitzers will be produced at Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) in cooperation with Rheinmetall and Hensoldt Optronics.
The first self-propelled howitzers are expected to be delivered to the troops in 2025. By 2026, all 22 guns transferred to the Ukrainian armed forces are expected to be replaced.
The Panzerhaubitze 2000 is the standard artillery gun of the artillery troops. It provides indirect fire support to the combat troops far behind enemy lines. With the ordered PzH 2000, the Bundeswehr will receive a proven weapons system that has proven itself in Bundeswehr deployments abroad and is also designed for the scenario of national and alliance defense. ALL INFORMATION about the Panzerhaubitze 2000.
