The Bundeswehr is receiving new all-protected transport vehicles (ATF) of the Dingo 2 type. Germany had previously transferred a total of 50 ATFs to Ukraine about a year ago - the same amount is now being procured anew and will be available to the troops until the end of 2026.
A corresponding framework contract was signed yesterday at the Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and Use of the Bundeswehr (BAAINBw) with the manufacturer KNDS. Prior to this, the Budget Committee of the German Bundestag approved the project. In addition to the vehicle system of the Dingo 2 type in the A4.1 variant, a spare parts and logistics package is also part of the replenishment project.
The Dingo belongs to the class of protected command and function vehicles (GFF) and has been reliably used for over 20 years. The Bundeswehr owns more than 500 Dingos in different versions. Due to its wide range of variants, it is used by various troop types, mostly in the army and the Joint Support Service. With its Unimog chassis, the vehicle is agile and off-road capable. Due to its armor and relatively small dimensions, the Dingo is also suitable for use in densely built-up areas and is therefore in high demand for convoy or patrol missions.
