Books & more: Suspension training

04/01/2015By Redaktion

Usually, a man tries to get out of trouble. Nowadays, it's all different. Suspension trainers are all the rage because they are compact training devices. There's no slacking off, you need strength. Here is a practical guide for the right exercises with these devices.

This is what the device looks like in principle. It hooks on at the top, with handles for hands and loops for feet at the bottom. It's actually a complete fitness center that you can roll up and take anywhere. From the expensive TRX to cheaper versions, which are now available at Aldi/Hofer or through Amazon, everything is possible.

The boy on the cover has an unconventional pair of glasses, but the book is good. It explains what to do and why, and how to move most efficiently with the suspension trainer. In fact, these are exercises using your own body weight, but intensified by different angles.

And then there are many exercises. Those who train with the suspension trainer can get plenty of inspiration from the book. For those who prefer moving images, there is an app from TRX with filmed instructions (Title: "TRX Force," the guide to the military suspension trainer from TRX - HERE is our review).

CONCLUSION: It never hurts to read up. A good handbook for training with the suspension trainer.

"The Ultimate Suspension Training: Train Efficiently and Functionally" by Marcell Doll, Riva Verlag, 2014, 196 pages, Euro 19.99
