BOOKS & MORE: The case with the bomb

03/17/2024By Redaktion

The mushroom season is hopefully over. However, since the current war in Ukraine, one often has to think about it again, especially when considering the major players. Rumors do not seem to stop that the Russians made their withdrawal from Kherson possible by threatening to use a tactical nuclear bomb. Since 1945, the use of a nuclear bomb has been a taboo that has never been violated. And this despite the fact that some countries are armed with them.

It all started with America. And accordingly, the book "Nuclear Weapons Since 1945" begins there. By the way, it is organized by the countries that are armed with nuclear weapons, so after America comes the Soviet Union, then China, Great Britain, and some others.

Here you can see what the predecessors of today's Russians, for example, have hoarded. The book tells the history of weapons and technology and gives a good overview of the Cold War era, when the powers entrenched themselves with nuclear weapons until the history almost came to a halt.

Additionally, it is illustrated in a very exciting way, here the ignition elements of a bomb. Weapon systems and the important people behind them, everything is visible.

Here is a documented launch sequence of a Trident missile from a submarine.

Here is the back cover: the blurb for the book.

CONCLUSION: A bomb of a book. Many facts, technology, history. A good overview of the development of bombs and the weapon systems associated with them.

"Nuclear Weapons Since 1945: History, Technology, Delivery Systems" by David Baker, Motorbuch Verlag 2023, 260 pages, Euro 41.02 - Available at good bookstores, also on Amazon.
