Three new orders and previously announced orders from Norway, Finland, and Sweden increase the total number of GALVION helmet systems ordered by NATO countries to over 125,000, with tens of thousands more in the pipeline.
In December 2022, GALVION signed a framework contract with NSPA, facilitating the procurement of its advanced Batlskin Caiman® head systems and accessories for NATO countries and partners. To meet the rapidly growing demand, GALVION is investing in the construction of a European production center in Gdansk, Poland, originally announced for September 2023 and now slated to open this year. Additionally, Galvion has entered into a production partnership with NP Aerospace in the UK to manufacture helmets for the increasing demand in the UK and NATO market. Under this partnership, Galvion is now delivering Cobra® Plus helmets for the UK VIRTUS program and Batlskin Caiman® systems for NATO.
The NSPA framework contract, through which NATO countries place orders, was awarded after extensive user trials conducted by Norway as the lead user nation under NSPA supervision. GALVION's Caiman® helmet system was selected to meet the higher performance tier of four specified helmet categories. It is available in five sizes and features GALVION's latest APEX padding system, an intuitively adjustable design that allows for a custom fit for the user and is designed to provide unparalleled stability for the latest visual augmentation devices. The Caiman helmet is scalable for highly dynamic missions with mission-specific accessories and is specifically designed for the integration of electronics, communication headsets, and other essential devices - now and in the future.
"This contract is a good example of the value that NSPA provides to both nations and industry," said Céline Danielli, NSPA General and Cooperative Service Programme Manager. By leveraging the NATO Logistics Stock Exchange, the agency matches technical requirements with the latest technologies and equipment, enabling nations to procure what they need via an online platform.
Todd Stirtzinger, CEO of GALVION, commented: "We are very proud that Norway, Finland, and Sweden have joined NSPA and are ordering our flagship Caiman head system through NSPA. We continue to work both internally and in collaboration with the best partners on the development and integration of performance enhancements, from our scalable E.D.G™ power supply to communication, strobes, and visual displays, ensuring that the Caiman platform continues to evolve to meet the constantly growing mission requirements and all are obtainable through the NSPA procurement channel." He added: "Our investment strategy continues to focus on keeping pace with the growing demand for our helmet systems worldwide by establishing a European production facility and strategic partnerships, and continuing to invest in GALVION's local facilities that allow us to efficiently meet demand now and in the future.
