The trend today is towards smaller and lighter plate carriers. The question always arises of how much the user can still take into operation. The user can resort to a backpack, which has the advantage and disadvantage that it can be put on and taken off repeatedly. Or the plate carrier can be extended backwards. With the BackAss from TIGER TAILOR, a non-preconfigured panel for quick installation and upgrade of plate carriers has been developed. This modular back system for plate carriers allows the user to improve situational adaptability according to the specific requirements of the situation.
Many MOLLE/PALS loops are available to you, and the entire panel with attachment straps weighs less than 500 g.
The semi-rigid thermoplastic reduces the weight of the BackAss and provides good stability.
Thermoplastic attachment teeth that are guided in MOLLE/PALS loops to stabilize the plate. Since TIGER TAILOR has a tiger in the name, we have given the whole thing even more bite with the term "fastening teeth."
Nice detail: all straps come with a small rubber loop so that excess straps can be neatly secured and nothing dangles.
TIGER TAILOR uses high-quality buckles and ladder buckles, sliders, and D-rings from Woojin for the BackAss.
The attachment straps for shoulder straps and cummerbund are compatible with each other via snap buckles. This expands the possible uses of the BackAss
20 cm long zippers on the sides of the BackAss serve for stabilization, fixed connection, and facilitate quick assembly/disassembly. A rubber loop hides the slider and prevents unnecessary noises.
There is a rescue/carry handle on the top of the BackAss.
Sturdy loops for attaching the buckles are located on the top and bottom of the BackAss.
Very good length adjustability of the attachment straps on the cummerbund.
The BackAss is equipped with laser-cut MOLLE/PALS slots. Most compatible equipment items can be easily accommodated.
Secure hold for any equipment or bag.
Easy handling of the BackAss as a pure modular and mobile organization platform that can be stored in a backpack.
Installation in a vehicle as a carrier platform for various equipment items.
The snap buckles of the straps for shoulder straps and cummerbund can be connected to each other, creating shoulder straps like a backpack.
By diagonally connecting the shoulder strap and cummerbund, the strap can also be worn as a sling pack. No modifications are required. The snap buckles of the straps on the BackAss are compatible with each other.
The Sling Carry variant allows quick access to the equipment.
The thermoplastic attachment teeth fit into any MOLLE/PALS loop of a plate carrier equipped with them. We have tested plate carriers from different manufacturers, and the teeth hold in the MOLLE/PALS loops.
The connection with the zipper provides stability and secure attachment of the BackAss to the plate carrier.
Most models from various manufacturers have attachment loops on their current plate carriers. The snap buckles of the attachment straps can be easily hooked into these loops in most cases.
If the existing plate carrier does not have loops on the shoulder straps for attaching the snap buckles, the BackAss can be attached to them with the supplied D-rings. TIGER TAILOR offers a very detailed and understandable description with good pictures on its website on how to mount the D-rings to the shoulder straps.
The attachment straps of the BackAss lie neatly on the shoulder straps of the plate carrier. Nothing interferes or slips.
The snap buckles can be hooked into the existing loops on the cummerbund. If no loops are available, the snap buckles can be attached to the MOLLE/PALS loops.
The attachment straps can be adjusted and adapted in length. This makes the whole thing even more stable and secure.
The buckles are easy to reach and release everywhere, whether on the shoulder or cummerbund. With some practice, the BackAss can be removed from the plate carrier without the user having to remove their protective equipment. This also works the other way around.
The BackAss Panel from TIGER TAILOR has been designed to allow plate carrier users to quickly switch between different configurations of back loading depending on the requirements of a mission. By using semi-rigid thermoplastic, numerous anchoring points, and quick-mount zippers, the MOLLE/PALS back panel is as robust as a permanently sewn system and offers an almost unlimited number of pocket combinations.
End users can now use a plate carrier for all missions and easily swap out the back plates filled with specific equipment and MOLLE/PALS-compatible storage solutions. The exchange of the BackAss takes less than a minute and requires no tools. In this way, additional back panels can be stored in vehicles or ready rooms and quickly deployed as needed. It's always good to have an ace up your sleeve, uh, back.
The BackAss Panel from TIGER TAILOR is available in Coyote, Ranger Green, Black, Sand, and Multicam colors for €96.00
