It's official: The Russian armed forces are receiving new combat uniforms and are beginning to switch to Multicam camouflage. G99 (Triada) worked last year with the Russian Ministry of Defense to develop a new series of combat uniforms called VKPO 3.0, which have already been put into active service.
As early as May, the Kalashnikov Concern, to which Group 99 belongs, announced that the new fabric was being delivered: The VKPO 3.0 pattern for 2022 includes: Thermal underwear fleece (sweatshirt, underpants) TU 858-6669-2022, Fleece jacket TU 858-6665-2022, Half-year suit (jacket, pants) TU 858-6666-2022, waterproof suit (jacket, pants) TU 858-6667-2022, insulated suit (jacket, pants) TU 858-6664-2022, summer suit (jacket, pants, utility shirt) TU 858-6668-2022, summer hat TU 858-6662- 2022, transitional hat (insulated) TU 858-6661-2022, winter scarf TU 858-6663-2022. In half a year, "tens of thousands of soldiers were equipped with the new uniform," boast the Kalashnikov Concern at ARMY 2023.
The new generation of VKPO is said to have improved ergonomic properties and is made from higher quality materials. The set is produced in a new color – apparently no longer the classic Digital Flora, but a Russian Multicam. Presumably also a color adaptation reflecting the conflict in Ukraine. Group 99 (G99) was considered – before being acquired by the Kalashnikov Concern – more as a supplier to special forces with high quality. There were talks of "Russian Arc'teryx LEAF"), so the new gear looks very western. Whether VKPO 3.0 is intended only for special forces or will also replace the existing Ratnik set is not clear. The Group 99 website is no longer accessible.
