If someone in the night tells you to "let yourself fall," then we actually have different expectations. If this happens at night in the Alps, we might have earlier guessed a party scene at Après-ski in Ischgl. Well, it happened not quite so far away. The Austrian Armed Forces are practicing extreme skydiving in Tyrol: The specialists of the Jagdkommando jump in alpine terrain.
This is what it looks like during the day: Getting out of the helicopter, into the spectacular mountain scenery.
Winter skydiving over the mountains requires special skills from the Jagdkommando.
The cold air results in different jumping conditions. Just like in mountain combat or helicopter flying in the mountains, the Austrian Armed Forces have truly exceptional skills here.
Landing in the snowy landscape. Before the next jump, the parachute is repacked.
These are the lines on which life depends.
And off to the helicopter for the next jump.
Well packed is not only the parachute, the machine is too.
Altitude meter on the wrist, heavy equipment on the man, out of the machine.
And all the way into the deep night. Top class: Jagdkommando soldiers jump with full equipment and night vision device.
