Fighting Fit

3. Military Fitness Orienteering on October 20th.

10/13/2018By Redaktion

The topic of orienteering is on everyone's lips. Unfortunately, there are hardly any events where only the map and compass are used. GPS has unfortunately become a fixed part of these races. From our point of view, this no longer has much to do with orienteering, so we have decided to organize our own orienteering event.

During the 1st march, we conducted a 30km route exercise with crossing a body of water and carrying a log over a specific distance. The event was a great success and went on until late at night.

The 2nd march was supposed to be less about strength and more about skill. We organized an orienteering march with compass and MKZ (March-Compass-Number) that took about 2 hours. The terrain was quite challenging, so there were teams that unfortunately had to give up.

The 3rd Military-Fitness-Orienteering will be a kind of star run.

The start and finish are centered in the competition area. At 1:00 pm, participants will receive a map with waypoints to start the competition. In this mass start, everyone must choose their optimal route. The entire route can be completed on paths, but cross-country shortcuts are advisable, allowing participants to cut across depending on their skill level. However, the risk is greater. If the accurate navigation to the next point is not successful, time is lost searching or retracing steps.

The winner must reach all the points and, of course, be the first to finish.

There will be two categories for evaluation.

Evaluation 1: Sprint category (Clothing of choice)
Evaluation 2: Military category (Boots, backpack with 8kg of gear)

The deadline for the Sprint category is 3:30 pm and for the Military category 5 pm
