SHOT SHOW 19: Aimpoint for big

02/19/2019By Redaktion

Aimpoint exaggerates once again. For us, they were the largest and smallest optics at SHOT SHOW 2019. The ACRO, the new Red Dot for the pistol slide, we have already introduced to you HERE. So now to the giant among optics, the Fire Control System (FCS). This is what the FCS looks like from the side. It is, as expected from the Swedes, a red dot sight. But it is much more, namely a rangefinder and ballistic computer. This optic is intended for the Carl Gustaf, for machine grenade launchers and heavy machine guns in caliber 12.7mm. HERE you can find all technical data on the FCS.

As big as it is, it makes the shooter's life easier. There is a button on the front pistol grip that activates the rangefinder. When that happens, the computer calculates the new aiming point. Realign the weapon, pull the trigger, hit.

And yes, even with large calibers: keep your finger extended.

The FCS from the front: a hefty optic, good rangefinder, and perhaps the largest battery compartment in an optic that we have seen in a long time.

The rest is not from Aimpoint, but from SAAB. Due to our profession, we are more familiar with the classic, heavy version of the Carl Gustaf. The M4 has been completely overhauled and uses state-of-the-art materials, making the recoilless gun impressively light to shoulder.

The Carl Gustaf is experiencing a revival in the troops, as this weapon provides infantry units with great firepower and because the ammunition available can be used for many purposes - against tanks, vehicles, bunkers, infantry. While the M2 weighed a hefty 14 kilos, the M4 comes in super light at under seven kilograms. More information about the Carl Gustaf M4 can be found HERE directly from SAAB.

Looking through the funnel at the rear into the barrel, you can clearly see the rifled section in the front.

And here is a short film about the latest version of the Carl Gustaf. And HERE is a Tactical Life video about the FCS.
