Bundeswehr: I want to feel you

07/25/2019By Redaktion

The Equipment Office of the Bundeswehr (BAAINBw) has commissioned Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) to deliver a total of nine reconnaissance systems Mungo A/C-Spür. The contract includes not only the delivery of the vehicles, but also spare parts packages and the training of crews and maintenance personnel. The Mungo in the A/C Spür version is capable of detecting and identifying nuclear and chemical threats. The three-person crew has at their disposal, among other things, a mass spectrometer, weather sensors, and radiation detection equipment. The crew remains inside the vehicle during the entire reconnaissance and analysis process. The ground marking in case of contamination is also controlled from inside the vehicle. Due to its low weight and external dimensions, the Mungo A/C Spür can be transported in a CH-53 helicopter. By the end of 2022, all nine vehicles will be delivered.
