REVIEW: Tasmanian Tiger Modular Combat Pack

03/16/2021By Redaktion

The Modular Combat Pack by TASMANIAN TIGER is the newest member in the backpack family of the Beutelwolf from Germany. We took a detailed look at this practical storm pack.

The Modular Combat Pack offers you 22 liters of pack volume and has approximate dimensions of 50 x 29 x 14 cm. So, it's a good size to carry the essentials needed for a day. The empty weight is 1.6 kg.

In the side profile, you can see the slim design of the Modular Combat Pack. The first features, like Lasercut PALS/MOLLE, immediately catch the eye of the discerning viewer.

Let's start with the pockets. In the image, you can see the approximately 2-liter upper front pocket. You could also call it a lid compartment with an angle. By the way, you can get the wonderful patch in our SPARTANAT SHOP.

Inside, the wearer will find the classic backpack lid pocket equipment typical for TASMANIAN TIGER, which we have come to appreciate. Here, small items find a good, easily accessible place. It has everything you need for an organized life in the field.

Below is the three-liter front pocket. Also equipped here with plenty of Lasercut PALS/MOLLE and the optional round elastic cord for external attachment of parts.

Inside the lower front pocket of the Modular Combat Pack, things are a bit simpler. A large mesh pocket and two horizontal Velcro strips, but what more do you need?

On the sides, the Modular Combat Pack is equipped with compression straps and more Lasercut PALS/MOLLE. It also has a total of four rectangular rings.

Through these, you can pull tension straps and attach additional equipment. You can see this pretty well in our Modular Combat Pack Video.

Using the two-way zipper, you can access the main compartment of the Modular Combat Pack. The front with the two small pockets can be fully opened if desired. If the zipper is only opened to where our finger is visible, the backpack can be used like a top loader. A very good design feature.

Here is the 17 liter main compartment fully opened. The lid is equipped with a small zippered compartment on the inside.

The main compartment is equipped with PALS/MOLLE Velcro and offers four small mesh pockets, for e.g. cell phones or batteries. Also, cereal bars can be stored here very well within easy reach, as well as other small items.

The backpack also has a hydration system preparation. This includes loops for attaching the hydration bladder...

...and a tube passage in the upper area near the carrying handle. Even with a cute drop symbol, so everyone knows what it's for.

For the necessary stability of the Modular Combat Pack, there is a plastic insert with an additional aluminum rod. A simple but very effective solution.

Some attentive readers may now think, "Wait, this all seems very familiar?" That's right. The Modular Combat Pack is the little brother of the Modular Trooper Pack (55 l) that we introduced to you two weeks ago.

The basic design elements are the same, just everything is smaller. After all, there are 33 liters of volume difference between the two.

Therefore, the Modular Combat Pack comes with the lighter Padded Back System, since generally lighter loads are carried.

However, the simpler Padded Back System is by no means uncomfortable, quite the opposite.

The shoulder straps are anatomically shaped and can be adjusted in width or even completely removed. Thanks to the chest strap, everything stays in place.

The hip belt, ideal for stabilizing the backpack, can also be removed.

The hip belt on the Modular Combat Pack is simply velcroed on, although "simple" is relative here. Removing it can be a bit tedious if you don't have blotting paper at hand.

The hip belt is equipped with two small zippered pockets, ideal for tissues or snus.

Whether with or without the hip belt, the Modular Combat Pack is comfortable to carry in both cases. You can find the Modular Combat Pack by TASMANIAN TIGER in detail in the SPARTANAT video here.

CONCLUSION: The Modular Combat Pack is a very good day or assault pack. It easily fits the essentials for a short operation and can be expanded with additional pockets if needed, thanks to the MOLLE system. All this with a modern design and clever solutions.

The Modular Combat Pack by Tasmanian Tiger is available from 165 Euros in Black, Olive, Khaki, Coyote Brown, and Multicam at all retailers carrying TASMANIAN TIGER.
