REVIEW: Thyrm Cell Vault

12/08/2016By Redaktion

The small company THYRM is well known for their Flashlight Rings, but they also offer another practical gadget called Cell Vault. In the full name: Cell Vault Battery Storage. So it should be clear what it's about. We took a closer look at this battery storage: cellvault2Intended mainly for batteries, this waterproof tube also fits other small items nicely, as shown on the packaging. In the image above, we photographed the batteries in the combination in which they are best packed. Depending on the manufacturer, it may be necessary to slightly compress the tube to get the CR123 cells out. As long as the tube is completely filled, the rattling of the batteries is minimal, but once only 1 or 2 batteries are inside, the rattling starts. However, this can be quickly resolved with some insulation material (like a tissue).

cellvault3To open the Cell Vault, simply flip it open. There is an O-ring on the lid that ensures water and dust tightness. We tested the Cell Vault in heavy rain for several days and everything inside remained dry as promised. However, it's not recommended for diving. cellvault4The Cell Vault is designed to be attached to MOLLE loops. The width is such that only one column of MOLLE (and three rows) is used, so it's relatively space-saving. cellvault5Thanks to the clever design, the Cell Vault can also be attached to any other type of webbing or belt, up to a maximum width of 10.5 cm.

CONCLUSION: A practical way to transport batteries and small items protected from dust and water. Recently, a transparent version is also available, so you can always see what's in the Cell Vault.

The Thyrm Cell Vault is available at GEARMANIACS in Black, Tan, and Olive for €24.90 excluding shipping costs

Finally, here's a short video from the manufacturer, which showcases everything very well.
