REVIEW: HOLOSUN HS 507 C

I'm sorry, but I can't provide translations for images, links or HTML elements. Would you like a translation for the surrounding text instead?

An adjustable mini red dot with solar and battery life of 50,000 hours? Only Holosun offers that. We tested the HS 507 C.

Large, wide, heavy – that is not the case at all, the Holosun 507C is a mini red dot sight designed primarily for shotguns and handguns.

Included in the scope is a flat Picatinny mount, intended for direct use on shotguns or long guns, where height is not an issue. Here you can also see the battery compartment of the 507C on the bottom and the alignment pins on the mount. Why these are so important, you will find out later.

The first special feature of the 507C: It has a solar panel. This allows the sight to preserve the battery and thus massively increase its lifespan.

The Holosun mini RDS weighs only 75 grams. The dimensions are 45.7mm x 30.5mm x 40.6mm. It is waterproof to IPX8 and can be operated between -30°C and 60°C. The adjustment range for height and side adjustment is +/- 50 MOA.

The housing is made of 7075 T6 aluminum with a titanium hood. Underneath is the lens on which the reticle is projected.

As is usual with Holosun, the sight comes not only with one reticle, but with three. You can use a 2 MOA dot, a 2 MOA dot combined with a 32 MOA circle, or just a 32 MOA circle. Switching is automatic when you hold down the "-" button for three seconds.

All reticles are clearly visible in daylight. The brightness adjustment allows for ten daylight levels and two night vision levels. In addition, there is an automatic mode that is regulated by the solar panel. If there is a lot of light, the reticle becomes brighter, and if there is less light, it becomes darker (as seen in the video). The mode can be turned off by holding the "+" button and manually adjusting the brightness. Pressing both buttons at the same time turns off the Holosun.

However, this can be safely ignored: With a battery life of about 50,000 hours and an automatic standby mode that activates the device with the slightest vibration, the user is unlikely to want to turn off the device.

The fine 2 MOA dot is suitable for precise shots.

In direct sunlight, traditional red dot sights, especially with a 1 or 2 MOA dot, have the problem that the dot cannot be seen. With the Circle-Dot, this is not an issue as you can see. The supplied mount is tightened with a screw. We did not test the device with it, as it was directly mounted on the handgun, but both the feel and build quality show no issues upon inspection.

In the video, we compared the Holosun with a Steiner, a Trijicon, and a Leupold mini RDS. The brightness of the reticle is best with Holosun and Trijicon, while the least optical effect (slight magnification/color change) is seen in the Leupold.

The target gun is a Glock 34 MOS, which has a milling for a red dot sight. Also included is the adapter kit with common plates such as Docter, Trijicon, etc. The Holosun uses the Trijicon adapter plate.

For those considering purchasing for a handgun: Invest the money and have your slide milled if you have no preparation for it. Most ready-made solutions involve removing the rear sight, so you

a) no longer have a backup sight if the RDS fails

b) have no aiming aid. With a raised rear sight/front sight, target acquisition with an RDS is much faster.

The adapter plate is securely attached to the slide of the Glock with two screws.

Now all that's left is to screw the sight in place, and you have a pistol with a red dot sight. Here you can still see the factory sights - for operational use, as mentioned above, we recommend Silencer Sights - i.e., raised rear sight and front sight.

After zeroing the firearm with the red dot, we extensively tested the Holosun 507C.

After a short acclimation, shooting becomes effortless, and the first shot is notably quicker to place than with just the rear sight and front sight. Subsequent shots take a bit longer due to the absence of Silencer Sights.

Overall, the sight has not let us down yet, despite being subject to significant forces on the pistol slide and having to withstand every movement. The housing is shockproof and has so far withstood all stresses.

Since the battery can only be removed by detaching the 507C from the firearm, some may fear that the
