Fresh Pandurs for the army

01/31/2017By Redaktion

General Dynamics European Land Systems signed a contract with the Austrian Ministry of Defense on December 22, 2016 for the delivery of an additional 34 PANDUR 6×6 wheeled vehicles.

In 1994, the Austrian Ministry of Defense procured 71 PANDUR 6×6 vehicles. Since then, these protected wheeled vehicles have been successfully used domestically and in various peacekeeping missions worldwide.

The updated version of the proven PANDUR 6×6 vehicle is produced entirely in Austria, with the first vehicles scheduled for delivery in 2018. In addition to a more powerful engine, the new PANDUR 6×6 vehicles feature significantly increased protection against ballistic threats and mines. Also, a modern, remote-controlled weapon station (pictured below) will be integrated into the vehicle."We are very proud to have received this order from the Austrian Ministry of Defense, as it demonstrates the high level of trust and satisfaction of the Austrian armed forces with the PANDUR 6×6. Austria is a very important home market for General Dynamics European Land Systems, and we value the longstanding partnership with our Austrian customer," said Thomas Kauffmann, Vice President of International Business & Services at General Dynamics European Land Systems.

"This contract includes a very high domestic component and secures hundreds of jobs in Austria," emphasized Martin Reischer, Managing Director of General Dynamics European Land Systems-Steyr, the Austrian subsidiary of General Dynamics European Land Systems. The high value-added of vehicle production domestically secures jobs and supports the Austrian economy through contracts with around 179 subcontractors.About General Dynamics European Land Systems
