The Nordic Combat Uniform is taking shape.

02/09/2022By Redaktion

The test phase is over, and the award of the large project "Nordic Combat Uniform System (NCU)" is completed. Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland have signed a contract for a new joint Nordic uniform system.

The contract value is 425 million euros over a period of seven years. The contract was awarded to the Norwegian company Oskar Pedersen A/S as a consortium, which includes the following companies/manufacturers:

  • Siamidis, uniforms (Greece)
  • W.L Gore & Associates GmbH, membranes and textiles (Germany)
  • Aclima, underwear (Norway)
  • Woolpower, middle layer clothing (Sweden)

The new uniform system will consist of the same clothing designs in all four countries, but will feature the respective camouflage patterns of each country.

The new NCU will be a unified system of underwear, middle layer, and outerwear based on the so-called Layer-on principle. The European configuration consists of a common intermediate layer that provides comfort down to -19 degrees Celsius, and a cold weather addition that offers protection down to -46 degrees Celsius. Also interesting are our old stories on the topic - Links below: there you can compare the development with the photos.
