REVIEW: Helikon-Tex Wildwood Windrunner Windshirt

Another empty picture. We just can't help it. But in the lower right corner, the trained observer should recognize something. What you see there is the new Windrunner (HERE in the SPARTANAT review). The jacket comes in Pencott WildWood. And now there are also some other products from Helikon-Tex available in this beautiful pattern.

For comparison with the classic PenCott GreenZone, we have compared the new jacket with the UF PRO Boonie Hat Gen. 2. GreenZone appears to have more toxic green tones, while WildWood seems to be more bleached. Unfortunately, the camera has difficulty capturing the difference. With the naked eye, the diversity of the patterns is more clearly distinguishable.

The Windrunner jacket has not been changed as such, it just has a new camouflage pattern, which we find excellent. Because it not only camouflages perfectly in our regions, as the name would suggest, but also in slightly more arid areas. The green tones correspond quite closely to the green of cacti and other plants found in these climatic zones.

Here is a more detailed picture of the two PenCott patterns in direct comparison. Greenzone on the left, Wildwood on the right and around it. The brown and beige tones are also more muted.

CONCLUSION: Small, practical, well camouflaged but not exactly cheap: the Windrunner from Helikon-Tex is a windshirt that you can always have in your backpack. Ideal for traveling light. Also great as a slip-on camouflage jacket for emergencies. Or simply when the wind comes and you need an additional layer quickly.
