SOF WEEK 24: The smart target laser from B.E. MEYERS

05/07/2024By SPARTANAT crew

A new approach to distance measurement, infrared illumination, and target acquisition with a new fire control system has been introduced by B.E. MEYERS. The MILR™ (Miniature Intelligent Laser Rangefinder) is a combined high-performance infrared target and illumination device in class 3B/3R with a visible laser pointer and a ballistic rangefinder calculator (through the integrated Applied Ballistics Software) that can provide both aiming points on the screen for use with a sight during the day and an active tilt of the infrared target laser for ballistic compensation when using night vision devices on the head.

This means that, in plain terms, after a target has been determined, the target computer calculates the appropriate aiming point and adjusts the tilt of the target laser. This is shown in the animated image. An exciting development.
