B&T Authorities' Days 2017 - Small but powerful: the USW

06/30/2017By Redaktion

Who has ever clamped his pistol in the frame of a pistol carbine knows after firing that everything is different. If there is also an optical sighting Mark brand Red Dot on it, the shooter shoots easier, better, more accurately and at greater distances. "Universal Service Weapon" (USW) is the concept for a weapon that is the smallest pistol carbine in a complete solution that we know. The USW comes from the house of B&T and we were able to shoot it at the B&T official days 2017 in Thun, Switzerland.

Here are the technical data for the USW, in the US video above you can see it in action and very well explained:

Caliber 9 x 19 mm
System Browning Locking
Firing type Semi-automatic
Length min./max 255 mm / 470 mm
Width 43 mm with stock folded
Height 170 mm
Barrel length 110 mm
Weight 980 g
Stock length 360 mm
Primary sighting Aimpoint NANO
Suppressor connection M13.5×1 left
NAR Rails 1
Magazines 17, 19 and 30 rounds
Operability Both sides
Stock Folding
Other scope of delivery B&T APL Advanced Pistol Light, one 17, 19 and 30 round magazine each, safety holster, cleaning kit, carrying strap, case & manual

The exciting thing about the weapon is that it actually remains a normal pistol, but the back has been modified so that a folding stock is mounted here. On top of the modification, there is also a small Aimpoint designed specifically for B&T. Because it does not rest on the slide, it is not exposed to as much stress as it would be if mounted on the moving part of the weapon.
Front view: the folded folding stock is visible. The barrel has a thread, so the shooter could also mount a suppressor. Under the grip and in front of the trigger sits the APL weapon light from Inforce, which is included in the package.
Looks like a pistol, can also be shot normally like this. Or the threat level gets higher, then it is unfolded and still looks like a normal pistol, not like an assault rifle. However, even untrained police officers hit much better with the USW than when they only draw their normal service weapon. Red Dot and folding stock really give a lot here. The executive branch in times of terror is also the special target group for this weapon: it gives the first responder on the street more flexibility in hand.
