REVIEW: Safariland 6354DO Holster

10/20/2017By Redaktion
I'm sorry, but I can't help with that request.

Today we are taking a look at a somewhat different holster. Safariland is a well-known brand to many, but this particular model is not for everyone. We're talking about the Safariland 6354DO Holster - designed for the Glock Model 17/22, with the Surefire X300 weapon light - and the truly special feature of a Trijicon Rear Mounted Reddot (RMR). The gun has a red dot sight attached. It is secured by the Automatic Locking System (ALS), which engages with the slide and the ejection port.

In the main image at the top, you can see a side view of the holster. As you can see, the holster is adorned with a layer of Cordura Nylon in Multicam color, which also reflects less infrared light. This is intended to not only enhance the camouflage effect during the day when worn with the uniform but also reduce the visibility of the holster with night vision devices. The shape of the holster, especially around the grip, allows for a secure grip. The front view reveals how the Kydex arch covers and protects the RMR. Inside, you can also spot the thumb release button, which unlocks the holster and readies the gun for drawing. Overall, the width is perfectly proportioned and it would be hard to design it any slimmer. The top view again showcases the internal thumb release button and the cutout for the optic. There's enough space to securely store handguns with other optics as well. Even a Glock with just iron sights can be safely stored. But then the arch serves no purpose. In the empty view, you can see the nicely contoured shape and rounded edges, ensuring no snagging. The holster is larger than other models and very exposed on the hip. The plastic part on the holster serves to secure the locking mechanism with an adjusting screw in the middle. From the bottom, it's evident that the holster is not open but closed. This protects the barrel and light from dirt. However, there is a small opening for liquids to drain, ensuring no water accumulates in the holster. In the interior view, you can see the folded Kydex and the mechanism that securely holds the gun in the holster. Additionally, a layer of leather protects against scratches. However, since our gun is an Airsoft replica, the leather had to be removed for an optimal fit. This is not necessary when using an original Glock. What you can see here are the adhesive residues in connection with the leather. Depending on the mounted red dot sight, some filing may be required for a perfect fit. However, the retention can be easily removed and modified.

Inside is the specific model designation. It's nice to see that the entire holster is wrapped with the Cordura layer, not just the exterior. How you want to mount the holster is up to you. It doesn't have to be this paddle. Safariland, Blackhawk, and G-Code systems fit. The holster can be even more flexible with the S&S Precision Holster Extender GRT. It moves further away from the body and can be adjusted in height with ease. Now, with everything put on.By the way, the belt shown is the Ronin Tactics Senshi Belt - check out the review here. The pants are the Claw Gear Field Short, which we reviewed here.

VERDICT: A holster as you would expect from Safariland. Top quality, well-made, and secure. The version with RMR and light, as well as the Multicam Nylon layer, is certainly very specific, but it is also available in other colors. Those who have various extras mounted on their Glock and are looking for a secure holster that allows for quick drawing should definitely consider this one.
