We head outside and grab our jackets. The first choice for adventure: the GAMSBOKK Endurance Jacket. We took a closer look at this sporty parka light and took it through mountains and valleys. And through the city.
What looks very casual from the front is very classic from the back. The Endurance, shown here in a stylish green, is also available in black, which has a cooler, more urban look. With the green, you'll be ready for anything.
GAMSBOKK knows where it comes from. From Germany. And the products come from Europe. We think that's great and it's also a criterion for us.
Let's start at the top. The Endurance has a hood. Here it is in place, protecting the head from the elements.
The hood fits well, but it doesn't have any wire or other stiffeners inside. It doesn't need them, but they can be practical.
But because the jacket is sporty, the hood will probably be worn most of the time. Ready for action, but not needed. But great to have.
Under the adjustment for the collar at the neck, so that it does not pull, you can see a loop.
The counterpart can be found on the hood.
And it's as simple as that: just pull the nipple through the tab. And the rolled-up hood is stowed away. A pragmatic solution, better than cramming a hood into the collar and then hardly being able to breathe.
The collar can be worn nice and high. You can also see how the hood attaches outside and underneath the collar, as well as its adjustment options.
But most of the time we wear it open and airy. The jacket is “wind and weather resistant,” it can handle light rain and a few drops here and there, but a hardshell is made for storms.
The Endurance is an extremely comfortable jacket that also looks stylish. And if necessary, we can close it up. Both versions are ideal for city life and the countryside.
There is plenty of pocket space. Two large sleeve pockets like on a military jacket. But no socially conspicuous Velcro (even though we usually like to wear patches).
The ends of the sleeves are closed with sturdy tabs. Open and airy or completely closed—it's easy to change.
Shoulder mobility test: the jacket performs well and feels nice and flexible, which is essential when you're out and about.
It has something special under the sleeves, through the armpits, and along the upper body: built-in air conditioning. When the zipper is open, the mesh allows more air to reach the wearer. This feature is usually found on heavier jackets, but works well here because of the sturdy fabric and inner lining. A great feature for movement.
You can't tell by looking at the shoulders that there are two small pads integrated into them. We didn't need them, but they're quite comfortable with a backpack. There are two inset chest pockets on the chest.
Above the hips are the hip pockets, which serve as main compartments for everyday use. Everything that is a pocket on the Endurance has a zip.
The two pockets here are the main place for your hands when you want to put them away.
Can also be carried comfortably in both hands in the pockets. These are lined with mesh and there is enough space for your hands and all the stuff you want to carry.
You can also seal the bottom to prevent drafts.
The length of the Endurance is just right: we come out at mid-butt. We like that because it makes you more mobile. In winter, we like it heavier and deeper.
Inside there are also pockets and a fine microfleece lining that is comfortable to wear. No winter lining, but great for the rest of the year.
There it is, right where it belongs. Looks great outside.
The GAMSBOKK logo on the back of the neck. Nice strap for hanging up the jacket.
CONCLUSION: The GAMSBOKK Endurance is a really good jacket. Its green color is reminiscent of a field jacket, from which it has inherited all the best features, but with a good range of civilian features. We would describe it as a “light parka” that is just as suitable for trips into the countryside as it is for everyday life in the city. Great materials, superbly made.
The GAMSBOKK Endurance Jacket is available directly from the manufacturer in Germany for Euro 299. GAMSBOKK is currently having a summer sale, so the price has dropped to a bargain Euro 229. A real bargain.
