FN America, LLC has announced their new tactical pistol in .22LR caliber, the FN 502. According to their statement, this is the "first tactical pistol in .22LR with the factory mounting option for an optic on the slide." They are right about that, as the Glock 44 is not yet available in an MOS version. What else does the FN 502 have to offer?
The FN 502 offers a 4.6 inch barrel threaded with a 1/2″×28 thread. This allows you to easily attach a suppressor to the FN 502. A compensator is also an option, but the question remains whether it provides much benefit for .22LR. The FN 502 comes with suppressor height sights out of the box, which is a very good choice.
The FN 502 is designed to function with most .22LR cartridges. To keep the fun of plinking going, there are 10-round and 15-round magazines available. Since the FN 502 has nearly the same dimensions as an FN 509, it should also fit in the same holsters.
The selling price in the USA is $499 and we are curious to see how much this beautiful piece will cost when it becomes available.
