The highly anticipated trade show CANSEC 2023 - Canada's Global Defence and Security Trade Show - will take place this year from May 31 to June 1 in Ottawa, Canada. Rheinmetall is excited to present some of its newest and most innovative developments - indoors at booth 1121 and outdoors at booth 3021. These cutting-edge technologies are designed to give the Canadian Armed Forces the advantage they need to succeed in any operational environment - today and in the future.
Rheinmetall is prepared to inform visitors of Canada's premier defense industry event about a diverse selection of state-of-the-art products. Topics include:
Autonomous Unmanned Ground Vehicles (A-UGVs): Rheinmetall will showcase the ultra-light tactical vehicle Polaris MRZR D4, equipped with the Rheinmetall PATH Autonomy Kit (A-Kit), an AI-assisted navigation system. The MRZR D4 platform, already in use in the Canadian Army and proven in operations worldwide, is a low-risk, reliable vehicle designed for special operations, as well as terrain and reconnaissance missions. With the PATH A-Kit, the MRZR D4 vehicle can operate in manned, autonomous, and remote-controlled modes. It also allows for seamless transitions between modes. With its multi-mission capabilities, including logistical transport, fire support, and medical evacuation, it can support a variety of missions. The autonomous MRZR D4 at the Rheinmetall booth in the hall will be equipped with a surveillance and CBRN detection kit.
In the outdoor area, Rheinmetall will display a logistics version of the Mission Master SP platform. The Mission Master SP is a low-profile A-UGV that supports soldiers in a wide range of missions, including high-risk situations. With its low-noise electric motor, it is invaluable when silence is required.
Water Purification System from the ASUWPS Program: The Canadian Department of National Defence has awarded Rheinmetall Canada the procurement and support of the Advanced Sub-Unit Water Purification System (ASUWPS) program. Rheinmetall Canada and its partner BluMetric will deliver an autonomous, self-contained water purification system capable of providing drinking water for up to 250 people from virtually any source.
SolarΣShield: This simple and cost-effective solution is a patented fabric developed and tested by Defence Research and Development Canada that has proven effective in use by the Canadian Armed Forces. It allows for a significant reduction in solar heat loading of systems through natural air convection and artificial shading. The SolarΣShield also enables multispectral signature management against thermal, visual, near-infrared, radar, and ultraviolet detection. Visitors can see the SolarΣShield technology for themselves at the outdoor booth.
Satellite Communication on the Move (SOTM), a satellite communication system for mobile use: As part of the SOTM program, Rheinmetall Canada, in cooperation with Elbit Systems, will provide the Vehicular Subsystem (VSS) to the Canadian Armed Forces. The VSS will be featured at the indoor exhibition stand. SOTM enables extensive voice and data connectivity between command vehicles, connecting elements, high-priority sensor vehicles, and tactical headquarters and command posts.
In addition, Rheinmetall will introduce a range of cutting-edge products and technologies developed through strategic partnerships to provide top solutions for upcoming Canadian programs.
Land Vehicle Crew Training System (LVCTS) Project: The FORC3 team is the strategic partnership led by Rheinmetall Canada, which includes Lockheed Martin Canada, Rheinmetall Electronics (Bremen), and Lockheed Martin Training and Logistics Solutions (Orlando, Florida), to realize the LVCTS program for the Canadian Army. The international alliance draws on unique experience and expertise in virtual training systems and aims to fundamentally change the operational training of the Canadian Army.
Joint Fires Modernization Project: Rheinmetall Canada and Elbit Systems have joined forces to advance the Canadian Joint Fires Modernization (JFM) project. This initiative will enable the exchange of tactical, operational, and strategic information on fires and effects over a digital network almost in real-time to create an immediate common operating picture. Rheinmetall will exhibit the following products on the Elbit Systems booth:
– HattoriX: a lightweight, precise, remote-controlled, and independent targeting system for ISTAR operations at short to medium ranges,
– Rattler-XR: a lightweight, interoperable, simple, and easy-to-use 70mJ coded laser target acquisition device that complies with NATO STANAG 3733. HattoriX and Rattler-XR are key components of the Torch-X Dismounted-Joint Fire digital solution.
Night Vision System Modernization (NVSM), a project to modernize night vision systems: Rheinmetall Canada is once again collaborating with Elbit Systems on the NVSM project to close capability gaps in the current fleet of night vision devices of the Canadian Army. As the solution of choice for the Laser Range Finder - Hand-Held Thermal Imager - Long Range (LRF HHTI-LR) program, Rheinmetall will introduce Elbit Systems' advanced target acquisition and reconnaissance system AION-C.
Common Heavy Equipment Replacement (CHER) Project: Rheinmetall Canada will collaborate with JCB and other OEMs to advance the Canadian Common Heavy Equipment Replacement (CHER) project. This initiative aims to equip the Canadian Armed Forces with reliable and sustainable next-generation heavy equipment for mission-oriented and effective earthworks and cargo handling capabilities. The JCB High Mobility Engineer Excavator, a highly maneuverable pioneer earthworks machine, will be on display at the Rheinmetall outdoor booth.
