Already in January, the US Marine Corps started issuing the Squad Common Optic (SCO). This is the Trijicon VCOG 1-8×28, meaning 1 to 8 times magnification, which replaces the old fixed 4x optic. The plan is to procure around 19,000 units for a total of 64 million US dollars by 2022.
The SCO is designed to help Marines identify targets up to 900 meters more easily. It will be mounted on the M4 and M27 rifles. The optic offers 11 brightness settings, with two of them for night vision devices. It is waterproof up to 20 meters.
For those who are interested in this optic, it has been available for the civilian market since 2019. More information about the optic is available HERE directly from Trijicon.
In Germany, the Trijicon VCOG 1-8×28 optic is available at Ferkinghoff International.
