The Czech Ministry of Defense has confirmed plans to procure an additional 14 Leopard 2A4 tanks from Rheinmetall AG. They will add to the 30 Leopard 2A4s and two Büffel 3s from the trade-in. 

"This is an important step towards modernizing not only our tank troops, but our entire army. It allows us to phase out outdated equipment from the Soviet era and improve our readiness at the same time," said Defense Minister Jana Černochová. The Leopard 2A4 tanks will replace the outdated T-72M4CZ models that no longer meet the requirements of modern warfare.
