In its first edition after the pandemic, IWA OutdoorClassics, the world's leading trade fair for hunting, shooting sports, outdoor activities, and civilian security, is about to undergo a small revolution: with three new special areas and a fresh community format, the fair is being enhanced in terms of content. At the same time, new meeting spaces are being created for visitors, exhibitors, and media representatives. This keeps the IWA OutdoorClassics at the cutting edge and enhances the attractiveness of the trade fair experience for all participants. The event kicks off on March 2, 2023 at the Nuremberg Exhibition Center. Tickets are already available online upon presentation of a valid ID certificate.
Tightening, bans, mistrust. The political situation surrounding legal gun ownership in Germany continues to escalate in the run-up to the IWA OutdoorClassics. On the EU level, political events remain tense: a possible lead ban, as well as potential changes in the import, export, and transit of firearms and ammunition through the proposed EU Firearms Regulation (EU 258/2012), continue to raise discussion among international institutions and associations. The urgency of these topics is also reflected in the lecture program of this year's IWA Stage. Together with the Association of German Gunsmiths and Gun Dealers (VDB) and the Association of Manufacturers of Hunting, Sports Guns, and Ammunition (JSM), both of which are the conceptual sponsors of the IWA OutdoorClassics, a high-caliber lecture program has been put together to prepare both the trade and manufacturers for the upcoming changes and their risks. Also exciting is the view into the European market. For the first time, l'Institut Européen des Armes de Chasse et de Sport (IEACS), the Association of European Manufacturers of Sporting Ammunition (AFEMS), and the World Forum on Shooting Activities (WFSA) will take the stage at the IWA Stage. The first lectures and speakers can already be viewed online at www.iwa.info/programm. This year, the IWA Stage will be opened as part of a small ceremony to which exhibitors, visitors, and media representatives are equally invited. The opening will take place on Thursday, March 2, at 11:15 a.m. Speakers will include Thomas Preutenborbeck, Member of the Management Board of NürnbergMesse, as well as Jürgen Triebel (President of VDB) and Olaf Sauer (President of JSM). The President of the World Forum, Graham Downing, will also address the audience with a statement.
Products must be tested and made experiential under real conditions. With the OPTICS Testing Area in Hall 3A, a new special exhibition format will be launched for the first time at the IWA OutdoorClassics 2023, raising the testing of night and thermal imaging technology at the fair to a new level. The core of the new special area is a dark chamber equipped with dimmable light and various target objects. This allows for different conditions from dusk to complete darkness to be simulated, putting night vision technology to the test. Another highlight is a heated target on the roof of the dark chamber, which will allow for testing of thermal imaging devices. This object is visible from a distance and can be viewed from the entire hall. A get-together area and a modern designed stage complete the new OPTICS Testing Area.
After its premiere in 2019, the AIRSOFT Shooting Range returns as another highlight to the program of the IWA OutdoorClassics 2023. Testing the products is also the focus on the range. Visitors can test the weapons of different suppliers at a total of six shooting ranges and get a feel for their handling. "The AIRSOFT Shooting Range is our offer to participants to be able to be convinced of the quality of the products in practical use," explains Pia Freitag, Manager in the IWA OutdoorClassics team. The Shooting Range will be located in Hall 5 and thus embody the new home of the Airsoft segment.
The diverse program of the IWA OutdoorClassics 2023 is complemented by established special areas. In Hall 4, this year the New Product Center will once again become the center for innovations and new products. Visitors will find all the latest news in one place. Young companies from Germany and around the world will once again find their home at the joint stand of young innovative companies and in the popular Newcomer Area in the transition of Hall 3C. The Job Center will also remain part of the IWA OutdoorClassics and will be located in Hall 7 in the future. Visitors will discover the Clothing Corner as usual in Hall 4. The IWA OutdoorClassics invites you: On the evening of the first day of the fair, for the first time in the nearly fifty-year history of the event, a big Happy Hour will take place, to which exhibitors, media representatives, and visitors are cordially invited. A special beer in a special IWA look will be served for a toast. The crew of the well-known YouTube channel "Polenar Tactical" will be waiting for the visitors with a special surprise. Thomas Preutenborbeck, Member of the Management Board of NürnbergMesse and Event Director of the IWA OutdoorClassics 2023, explains that they are deliberately trying to extend the casual networking at the fair beyond the normal booth activities in this way. It starts at 5:00 p.m. in the fair park!
