In the Ukraine war, DRONES are a very big problem for both sides - especially in the field of defeating / defending aginst them. Tactics and technologies for drone defense are continuously evolving and range from high-tech to low-tech / field-expedient solutions.
At the low-tech end of the spectrum, its reported that the Russians are using 3D-printed sabot projectiles - which are filled with regular lead pellets for air rifles. This video from "The Armourer's Bench" explains it all.
Comparing this technique to tinkering with heat shrink tubing or other techniques, with this approach the rifle barrel does not become contaminated with plastic residue. This is certainly an interesting development, and we are curious to see if the method proves successful in the field, and if it can be scaled to industrial levels to mass produce such drone defense ammunition.
