Tactical tip: SEAL knot 5 - stopper hitch

09/27/2019By Redaktion

This knot (eng. Right Angle) is very similar to the Mastwurf, but with one more wrapping. This makes the Stopperstek more secure and is especially suitable where a normal Mastwurf starts to slip. The possible uses are also the same, such as setting up tents, stretching tarps, tying explosives together with explosive cord, etc... For the tying instructions:

First, wrap the rope around the bar twice.

Cross the loose end over the two windings.

Now wrap around again, but pass the end under the crossing rope.

Tighten - and the knot is finished. It is important that the double winding is at the pulling end.

So we have covered all five knots that a Navy SEAL must learn during basic training, so practice diligently.

HERE you can find the link to the Video on Youtube, because moving images are sometimes better.
