Who shoots a lot also makes a lot of mess. Dirt accumulates in the weapon and naturally needs to be removed to avoid inhibitions and wear. Through FERKINGHOFF, the Pro-Shot Cleaning Kit Tac Coyote AR15 from the USA finds its way to us.
An overview of what is included.
This is what it looks like when unpacked by us. Everything was well packed in the pouch and additionally the small parts were packed again in a clear bag.
The bag itself can be completely closed as well as folded over and additionally fixed with Velcro strips to keep it open.
On the back side there is Molle. The processing of the pouch could be a bit better here. Various threads hang somewhat loose, but a lighter quickly takes care of them. And it all depends on the contents.
If you're not sure how to clean with it, or what the individual parts do, there is also an instruction included.
Let's start by putting some CLP Cleaner on a patch. Thanks to the needle eye, this can be dosed appropriately.
Pulled through quickly, quite a bit stays on it.
Not only is there some dirt on the patch, but also on the cleaning rod. This rod is very high quality in this set. Made in the USA, American steel is used. Additionally, the rod is micro-polished and coated, making dirt easy to wipe off. Don't worry about the steel, it was intentionally left soft enough so as not to be as hard as a barrel, to avoid damage.
The handle is also very intriguing. Because the rod is screwed onto it and with the knurled screw on the right, you can determine whether the cleaning rod should rotate freely or be fixed.
A fixation is therefore suitable for the cartridge chamber brush. First of all, loosen and clear the dirt with the brass brush.
Then go in with the cotton brush to remove all the dirt.
Looks acceptable so far. Now pull the barrel through.
For this, use the Spear Tip Jag, also made of brass. Simply skewer a patch and pull it through. It picks up more dirt in combination than the regular patch holder would.
If the cleaning shooter wants to check the barrel and has poor light or doesn't want to completely disassemble his weapon, there is the J Bore Light from Pro Shot.
Insert it into the barrel and the Bore Light, made of acrylic, collects ambient light – illuminating your barrel. It can also be used as a safety flag.
It may be difficult to capture with a camera, but the lighting is somewhat surprising. The more ambient light there is, the brighter it illuminates. A flashlight can also help, but the cleaning person can of course completely disassemble the upper and hold it against the light. Still practical, we think.
To use all parts of the set, now use the nylon brush on the bolt carrier. Put some oil on it and let the brush scrub. The bristles are fortunately not too soft, allowing the dirt to be easily removed. The bolt lugs and extractor will appreciate it. We also do, as the many corners and edges are often a bit cumbersome to clean. Finally, the bolt also gets some oil.
What's missing now is the silicone cloth. It cleans, polishes, and protects surfaces.
It does this by leaving a fine film on the surface, as shown here fresh and good.
One thing we haven't used yet is the Pro Gold Lubricating Grease. Unfortunately, this is delivered in a single pack. It would have been better if it were resealable. So we'll take it with us – for emergencies during a course or competition.
When finished cleaning, it's time to pack everything up and come to a conclusion.
CONCLUSION: The Pro-Shot Cleaning Kit Tac Coyote AR15 offers a practical complete set, suitable for .223 Rem/5.56mm. Those who want high-quality components "Made in the USA" will find what they are looking for here and not be disappointed. Admittedly, the bag could be better made, but the focus here is on the content and not the bag, as this could potentially drive up the price. This practical cleaning kit will not only bring us joy at home, but especially during competitions on the go. If these last for several days, cleaning will be done diligently in between, and that's exactly what the contents are perfect for and everything is neatly packaged.
You can get the kit HERE directly from Ferkinghoff for 93 euros.
