CZ will supply the Czech Army with small arms and ammunition worth up to 2.35 billion CZK, which is around 85.8 million euros. This recently signed framework contract is an extension of the modernization package for the armament of the Czech Armed Forces that took place between 2010 and 2016. At that time, approximately 2,600 pieces of CZ BREN 2 assault rifles and 800 CZ 805 G1 grenade launchers were procured. In subsequent tranches, a total of 40,000 weapons were purchased from CZ for the Army. Now, there is even more, as stated in the press release.

“Our goal is to modernize the Army, but also to support Czech industry and maintain jobs in these difficult times,” said Defense Minister Lubomír Metnar. “The completed framework agreement allows the acquisition of up to 39,000 handguns from a reputable manufacturer for our soldiers by 2025.”

If the contract is fulfilled to the maximum, the Army will receive over 16,000 BREN 2 assault rifles, more than 21,000 CZ P-10 pistols, more than 1,600 CZ 805 G1 grenade launchers, nearly 100 CZ SCORPION PDWs, and training ammunition in the coming years.

“The Army of the Czech Republic demands only the best armament. This contract is a guarantee for us to do our job well and create high-quality and innovative products that can withstand the demanding military and police environments. At the same time, it sends an important signal about the importance of investing in the domestic defense industry, especially in these challenging times, which highlights the crucial need to ensure maximum security of supplies from domestic sources,” said Luboš Kovařík, President of the CZ Group.

“We feel honored that we can continue to supply our Army, historically one of the most important customers of CZ and a key reference in the global markets. Furthermore, this contract will promote employment, which I consider crucial for both the company and the Czech economy in the current situation,” added Ladislav Britaňák.
