Heavy sniper in high mountains
10/21/2021By SPARTANAT crew

At this is a proper welcome. The new heavy sniper rifles were presented at the Hochgebirgs-Jägerbataillon 23. According to the Bundesheer, these are semi-automatic "anti-material-rifles" in caliber .50BMG.

In English, an "anti-material-rifle" refers to a rifle used to combat lightly armored vehicles or enemy forces behind cover. Sounds less harmful than saying that the heavy sniper can now engage all its targets with a strong fist up to two kilometers away. It is exciting that the US Barrett M82A1 has now made its way to the regular troops, before it was only seen with the Special Forces (pictured above). HERE is more information about the weapon.
