A helmet is now much more than just a bowl that protects the skull. It's no longer just about what you have in your head – but also what's on it. Night vision devices, helmet lights, strobes, and battery compartments all add up. Especially since OPS-CORE invented its rails, positioning has improved, but it still needs to be wired externally.
With the RAIL LINK, manufacturers are taking it to the next level by integrating the electronics into the rail. The accessories are also miniaturized and match the system: on top, the strobe on the RAIL LINK is from CORE SURVIVAL, which usually makes the bulky strobes that are attached to the helmet. Now they come in pairs for both sides.
The rail is almost completely free, and the in-house hearing protection AMP is integrated using swivel arms. The nice, plugged-in light on the rail is from SUREFIRE, which also contributed to it.
On the opposite side, the observer can see the attachment for the visor that protects the eyes. Above it, the matching helmet light for the rail from PRINCETON TEC. In front, you can see the attachment point for the cable for the PVS-31 night vision device.
Everything is powered by the new battery compartment plus, which is screwed onto the ends of the RAIL LINK at the back of the helmet.
A quick look inside: six batteries now provide the power. The charge level can be checked from the outside at the BATTERY Pack+.
In this great video, OPS CORE presents its system. In Germany, you can get the RAIL LINK system and all accessories at IEA MIL-OPTICS.
This whole setup is not only technically highly interesting but also an extremely practical solution for individuals who have to carry so much on their heads. If you do the math, you'll also realize that your little helmet is suddenly worth quite a lot. Some may even become bounty hunters after this "headborne" gear.
