These mobile, tent-based medical facilities enable emergency surgical care during operations according to German standards. The LLRZ, le includes an ambulance, emergency operating room similar to an OR, and intensive care capacities, housed in a total of nine tents. The system can be transported to an operational area by helicopter or transport aircraft and can be operational in just a few hours.
The Fast Medical Response personnel in Leer are now equipped as the first unit with the LLRZ, le. "With today's handover, we can take a significant step towards ensuring high-quality and contemporary medical care for injured comrades," said the Deputy Inspector General of the Sanitary Corps, General Medical Officer Dr. Norbert Weller, on the occasion of the handover.
The new lightweight air rescue centers will replace the systems in use since 2003. The new medical equipment provides improved treatment options for soldiers. The second system is expected to be delivered to the Bundeswehr Medical Service next month, with the remaining six LLRZ, le expected to follow by the end of 2024.
