225 armored vehicles for the Federal Army

The Bundesheer apparently is getting a hefty batch of new wheeled armored vehicles. The planned procurement involves another 225 units of the wheeled armored vehicle Pandur Evolution worth around 1.8 billion euros. The contract signing is expected to be announced next week, as we hear. In 2021, the Austrian Ministry of Defense had ordered a modest 30 units of the personnel carrier from domestic production by GDELS at that time.

The Pandur Evolution is produced in Vienna by General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) and is an evolution of the proven Pandur. The armored wheeled vehicle provides soldiers inside protection against splinters, infantry weapons fire, or mines, and is characterized by maneuverability and high speed.
