GARMIN presents the Foretrex® 801 and the Foretrex 901 Ballistic Edition - the latest additions to its wrist-worn GPS navigation devices for outdoor and tactical applications.
With the Foretrex 801 and 901, users can stay on track thanks to the multi-band signal reception technology for improved positional accuracy, specialized tactical and ballistic features, and a battery life of up to 100 hours in standard tracking mode or up to 1,000 hours in expedition mode. The Foretrex 901 also aids in optimizing target solutions for precision shooter competitions with a built-in Applied Ballistics (AB) Solver and the integration of the AB Synapse - Garmin App.
The Foretrex 801 and 901 now offer Stealth Mode and Kill Switch features to assist users in sensitive areas. Customers can use the Stealth Mode, which records distances traveled without logging location data, during training or operations. This function ensures that customers can use the Foretrex 801 and 901 and even upload recorded data without worrying about revealing location information. With no location data stored on the device, the Stealth Mode protects operational security in case a device is lost. Activating the Kill Switch hotkey quickly resets the device to factory settings and erases all stored data. This option may be useful for users working in a position where the data stored on the device could be considered sensitive.
With the integration of the Applied Ballistics Elite® Solvers, the Foretrex series has become a reliable tool for competitive shooters in the Precision Rifle Series (PRS) and Extreme Long Range (ELR) events. In addition to the Applied Ballistics Elite Solver, the Foretrex 901 is now compatible with the AB Synapse - Garmin app to provide users with even more efficient shooting solutions. By downloading this app to a compatible smartphone, users can manage ballistic profiles on their Foretrex 901, while the integrated Applied Ballistics Solver offers cutting-edge solutions for calculating trajectories of long-range rifles.
The devices Foretrex 801 and 901 support external ANT+ sensors and are compatible with Garmin devices such as inReach®. When paired with a compatible inReach device1, users can receive inReach messages directly on the device and trigger an interactive emergency call to the 24/7 Garmin ResponseSM Center if needed. Users of the Foretrex 901 can also pair their device with compatible rangefinders to receive distance data and send a ballistic solution to the rangefinder. This saves time and increases accuracy when sending distance data to the linked Foretrex 901, helping to keep devices synchronized and provide both the shooter and spotter with complete information.
With the advanced sensors of the Foretrex 801 and 901, including a 3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis compass, and barometric altimeter, users can navigate in rough terrain. Both devices also feature integrated multi-band signal reception technology, which uses multiple frequencies to further improve position accuracy. Additionally, the devices are multi-GNSS capable, allowing them to receive signals from more than one satellite constellation, enhancing performance in challenging environments.
When both devices are paired with a compatible smartphone, they can leverage the valuable features of the Garmin ExploreTM app to plan, navigate, and review their next adventure. The app allows users to load routes and waypoints onto their devices with or without Wi-Fi® or cellular service, even when they're off the grid. Connected features like smart notifications also allow the user to receive emails, texts, and alerts on their device, as well as automatically upload to Garmin ConnectTM and LiveTrack2.
With two on-site replaceable AAA batteries (not included), the Foretrex 801 and 901 have a battery life of up to 100 hours in one-second tracking mode and up to 1,000 hours in expedition mode, allowing users to focus more on the upcoming task and less on battery life.
Thanks to the new, easy-to-read 2.2-inch monochrome display, data on the screen can be read in various lighting conditions - even when using night vision goggles. The devices are as rugged as they look, meeting military standard (MIL-STD-810) for heat and shock resistance, as well as IPX7 waterproof rating.
