3D Printing:
We are printing a holster
11/07/2024

While surfing through the strange corners of the internet, we came across 3D print data for an IWB holster. Curious as we are, we had to try it out. Of course, we will take you on this journey with us.

The holster is called "Riptide Holster Pack" and the data is completely free. By the way, it is not illegal to print a holster, as it is not a firearm part! The data is very extensive and there are several variants with different mounting options. All holsters are designed for GLOCK models without a light.

There is also a detailed assembly guide included, although it is not really difficult, and it also specifies which screws you still need to buy.

Printer goes Brrrrr

We opted for the "Mainsail" model for a G17. After some short slicer action, the 3D printer was started right away. We initially printed the holster in PLA and if that is not durable enough, we will try out other plastics later. A few hours later, the holster was already finished.

Then the mounting clips were also created.

The finished holster with all clips and simple wing.

The result looks very promising.

The G17 fits perfectly. We are not surprised, but still excited.

The holster itself makes a really sturdy impression. To ensure that it is really stable, we made sure when creating the print file that the holster is completely filled with plastic.

A first attempt at wearing it, the holster holds. In total, the Riptide holster with screws weighs 160 g (~5.6 oz), so almost nothing. We will take this holster to the range soon and see how it performs. Stay tuned.
