REVIEW: Holosun HE530G-RD ELITE

HOLOSUN is coming with a new sight for the European market. The HOLOSUN HE530G-RD ELITE comes with a very good mount and has the potential to be a real competitor killer: it has two reticles, the classic dot and also a circle reticle. So, the HOLOSUN HE530G-RD ELITE positions itself in the middle of the debate between Aimpoint and EOTech - and has both. Let's take a closer look at the sight, which can be purchased in Germany through HOLOSUN.DE for you. Let's unpack: HOLOSUN sells its reflex sights not in a box, but in a shockproof case, in which the valuable piece can be stored safely when it is not on a weapon.

Shall we unpack it? We shall...

Safely stored inside: the HOLOSUN HE530G-RD ELITE. The accessories are placed in extra slots, one of which is empty because that's where the battery was. It is already inserted into the sight here.

The sight with HOLOSUN logo and serial number now on the table. A cleaning cloth and a "multitool" are included. Cleaning is always good, especially when the field of view is so large. The front lens (left) on this sight is 30mm wide, the ocular (right) 26mm.

Always play with the buttons, the HE530G-RD ELITE has some buttons. Let's go through them.

The two here are used to adjust the dot. Turning them to the right adjusts the dot downwards on the top and to the right when adjusting on the side. Use the included multitool and click until it fits when zeroing in.

And then there are two exposed buttons with plus and minus. These regulate the brightness in twelve levels, two of which are suitable for night vision. Pressing the minus button offers a different experience: in the Holosun 5 series, shooters can choose between a 2MOA red dot, 65MOA circle dot, or a combined circle dot reticle. This is well captured in the video (see main image).

In short: it's as if you have the aiming of Aimpoint and EOTech in one device and can choose which one you prefer today. In fact, it's not just a matter of preference: the dot allows for finer aiming, while the circle dot allows for more intuitive shooting.

This is the G-spot of Holosun - exposed. "G" always means that the power supply is on the side. Here, it is a CR2032 battery that is used. The device runs for 50,000 hours, which would be five years, 20,000 hours with the circle dot. Frankly speaking: we did not have that much time... And it goes to sleep: this function is called "Shake Awake," where the sight turns "off" when not needed, but is back on with the slightest movement - of course, in the previous setting.

Another nice addition is the protective covers that can be attached to the front and back and hold well. It's also nice that they are transparent, so you don't have to open them when the shooter wants to shoot.
