L3Harris: Optics prototype for NGSW

L3Harris Technologies has delivered 115 production prototypes of the Next Generation Squad Weapon Fire Control (NGSW-FC) solution to the U.S. Army.

The U.S. Army will use the prototype systems for testing, evaluation, and usability with soldiers before selecting a company for a production contract for the program later this year.

We presented the competitive solution from Vortex HERE. The L3Harris solution offers an integrated approach to enhanced target acquisition by combining rangefinding, ballistic calculations, and environmental sensors that increase accuracy while reducing the time to engage a target.

“The L3Harris Next Generation Squad Weapon – Fire Control System will enable soldiers to better detect, identify, and engage threats at greater distances, as well as improve situational awareness on the battlefield,” said Lynn Bollengier, President, Integrated Vision Solutions, L3Harris. “The delivery of the production prototypes is an example of L3Harris’ commitment to providing our customers with advanced technology.”

L3Harris has partnered with Leupold & Stevens to integrate their superior optical assemblies and domestic (USA) high-volume manufacturing. This ensures that the system meets the high quality and capacity requirements set by the U.S. Army to deploy this technology alongside the Next Generation Squad Weapons program.
