If you want to carry a lot of stuff, you need a large backpack. The Modular Pack 45+ from Tasmanian Tiger offers you more space. No wonder, it is the big brother of the Modular Pack 30, which made a big impact. You can also find the review of the Modular Pack 30 HERE on SPARTANAT. We extensively tested the new 45-liter version and want to show it to you in detail today.
Here is the main part of the Modular Pack 45+ in all its glory. It measures approximately 58 x 33 x 23 cm and is equipped with a two-way zipper. On the front, you'll find 4 x 15 laser-cut PALS slots, corresponding to seven PALS rows. So, there's plenty of space for additional pockets, depending on your needs. The entire backpack is made of 700D Cordura.
On the left side, there is a zippered access to the front compartment. Here, items up to A4 size fit in very well.
The side offers 5 x 14 slots. In the upper area, the slots are interrupted since the partially concealed compression strap is attached here. The "black spot" at the top of the backpack is the cable outlet, which is also found on the other side.
Compared to the 30-liter version, the Modular Pack 45+ is approximately this 8 cm wide strip higher. This means that the starting point of the carrying system is naturally a bit lower.
The zippers of the main compartment are lockable, so in theory, you could transport your weapon in it and comply with German legislation.
The top of the main compartment offers 6 x 6 PALS slots. So, everything is very modular.
There are two carrying handles towards the back. The top handle is for better grip of the main lid. If you want to quickly open your Modular Pack, grab both handles and pull them apart. The entire backpack will be open in front of you.
There is also an additional access to the main compartment. This is practical because you don't have to open the entire main compartment. The access is also suitable for leaving any antennas sticking out. This zipper is not lockable.
The shoulder straps are well-padded with 2 cm thickness. Even with heavy loads, everything is comfortable to carry. The chest strap is detachable if you don't need it.
The shoulder straps feature Woojin buckles so the backpack can be quickly removed in case of emergency. The cover for the buckles is well designed to keep them concealed and protected.
The carrying system is the V2 PLUS System, equipped with aluminum struts compared to the GFK struts of the V2 system. Additionally, the hip belt can be completely removed, so the backpack can be worn on plate carriers in combination with battle belts or similar gear. Tasmanian Tiger brings the intense experience from civilian backpack manufacturing here and offers the highest quality.
The stiffened hip belt offers enough space for MOLLE pouches. It is pushed completely through the hip padding - which can be seen very nicely in the video - but to remove and install it, all pockets on at least one side must be removed.
The main compartment completely opened. Velcro patches and PALS slots as far as the eye can see. There are no obstacles to interior organization. Except for the two small Helikon-Tex pockets (see the reviews of VIS EDC Medium and Medinsert), all are included in the delivery, just like the smaller brother. This is generous, practical, and very well thought out.
Here again, the inside in all its fluffy glory. The back part offers you twice 2 x 15 PALS slots, and on the side parts, 2 x 14 slots are available. The Velcro areas are 43 x 24 cm on the
