Very quietly and secretly, a new Austrian has been naturalized: the HK417 has landed with the Jagdkommando of the Austrian Armed Forces. This brings support back to the solid caliber 7.62 and allows for longer range with the DMR than with the small-caliber assault rifle. The weapon was casually shown in photos of an exercise of the domestic special forces by the Armed Forces. Over a year ago, we had heard that 72 HK417 rifles were supposed to be procured. We've encountered the device once before: during the CONCAMO photo shoot as the HK417P and the information that it is an Austrian mix of HK417 and G28.
We see the HK417 here with a Kahles optic with a laterally mounted Aimpoint for close distances in shooting training from the helicopter as the new weapon of the Austrian Armed Forces. The Flash Hider is an Ase Utra Bore Lock Hiper. The rail is intriguing: the Slimline Handguard from Heckler & Koch with the HKey interfaces. HERE you can find all information about the weapon.
