REVIEW: ZENTAURON Vulcan III with quick release

It may well be that a Vulcan erupts in the forest. This one is actually the Vulcan III, the latest plate carrier from ZENTAURON and therefore the model that is brand new and most advanced in evolution. Today, we want to explain what makes the new one different. First of all, there are two reasons: here's the smaller reason ...

... and here's the bigger reason. Both together are quick releases mounted on shoulders and abdomen. These ones come from an Italian manufacturer and are called ROC - Rapid Open Connector. This describes the function perfectly. ZENTAURON simply and quickly calls them "ZenTubes". Velcro is dead, the quick releases are an efficient system for donning and doffing the plate carrier. And they are also an emergency release system. HERE is the article "Quick Release - who needs it". The Vulcan III on the man. From the front you can see lots of MOLLE and Velcro in the chest area. And four cords with heat shrink that serve opening the plate carrier at the ZenTubes on the shoulders and abdomen.

The back view looks very similar, at least in the upper area. There is also Velcro, but the MOLLE looks very reduced. But that's not true. The vertical loops are primarily used for integrating the Cumberbund. However, pockets can be mounted horizontally here, so that the shooter can grab a horizontally lying magazine from the front.

And MOLLE is still there, because vertical pockets can be inserted into the Cumberbund straps. Even the flaps from ZENTAURON - you'll see them down below - are designed to be used both in front of Vulcan III and in the rear. Very cleverly solved.

The Cumberbund comes from the right and left, is fed through the vertical loops as needed.

Now it fits. Ultimately, it is shock cord looped through the Cumberbund straps to secure it. This adds a certain flexibility that may be necessary when you get out of breath while running and need more air for the chest.

With the right hand at the abdomen and the left hand at the shoulder, the user can open and discard the Vulcan III with two moves simultaneously. The entire equipment is down within seconds. Impressively practical.

The Vulcan III is an open book at the front. It can be configured with pockets or flaps as desired.

Flaps have the advantage that they can be completely replaced, depending on the scenario. Here you can see two variants: on the left, the Modular Flap, which can be equipped with pockets as desired, on the right, the Magazine Flap, which already provides for three magazines.

At the back, there are MOLLE loops and a pretty long end with hook-and-loop tape.

MOLLE is easily mounted on the front of the Vulcan III. The four straps hold securely. There is no Velcro on the flap surface that would stick to the plate carrier.

The long end is folded over and velcroed into the plate carrier. A very practical solution. Accessories like groin protection, belly pouch, or tourniquet for quick access can be attached to the loops.
