Optics on the semi-automatic? That's always a question of what distance you shoot at and what it will cost. For close distances: EOTech, Aimpoint, and Holosun with Red Dots, for farther distances with a Magnifier. Or maybe you want more: LPVO stands for "Low Powered Variable Optic," and they are a type of magnified optics that often start at 1X and go from 4X to 6X to 10X. At 1X, they are like a red dot - or at least very close to it. With increasing distance or shrinking of the target, the shooter can zoom in and increase the ability to hit the target. These optics are suitable for almost all distances that an average semi-automatic can reach. LPVOs are currently the dominant optic on the market. In the image above, you can see the EvolutionGear TANGO 6T DVO 1-6X24mm FFP Illuminated LPVO bundled with the NF Style 1.54 Mount that we want to take a closer look at - Real Steel that is.
When the mailman rings twice, he brings packages. This one comes directly from EVOLUTION GEAR and inside is the optic (blue box) and the matching mount (small box).
Lid off, nice sight: EvolutionGear TANGO 6T DVO 1-6X24mm FFP Illuminated LPVO in all its glory. It's a clone, let's be clear about it. The original is the TANGO6T 1-6X24 MM from SIG SAUER, an American military optic. The clone is there for MilSim friends to look like the real thing. Well, you don't have to have the real optics unless you're really sharp, but a solid replica will do. That's where EVOLUTION GEAR comes into play.
They deliver everything you need, and this is the complete setup from EG TANGO 6T.
A look inside the box reveals a corresponding mount, which in the original would be from Night Force, the one from EVOLUTION GEAR is also a solid replica and the fitting mount for TANGO 6T.
No tools needed, delivered with the appropriate wrench for the mount nuts.
Bottom view, all very cleanly crafted. With the correct markings.
Side view. Here too, the details are identical to the original. The line on the scope is the horizontal mounting point, it must be at the same height as the slot on the mount.
So everything is straight, a practical solution. The labeling shows the order in which the screws should be tightened. Also the desired strength, if you can adjust it on the screwdriver. With the clone maybe not quite the same as the original, from which the labeling is taken over.
The labels are of course on the front and back. The NF Style Mount for 30mm Tubes is 1.54 inches high. Next time we want to try the higher 1.93 inches. That way you can go with your head straight to the stock.
And inside is the user manual, so to speak. And for the specialists, it also shows where the front and back are. So you can't go wrong.
Always remember, when screwing, think about the order.
This is the ring that allows for quick adjustment between 1x and 6x magnification. Also perfectly crafted.
This is what it looks like mounted on the adjustment ring.
Get everything ready, the optic is ready for the field when everything is mounted and the batteries are inserted.
The EvolutionGear TANGO 6T has the 7.62 Extendet Rectile. Obvious, because with the real ones we used the optic on an HK417.
Here we are using the manufacturer's images. Clear view with 1x magnification. Appealing view. Edge-to-edge sharpness and good eye relief. However, we must not forget that this is a $300 optic, the original costs at least five times as much. The problem is that in this budget-friendly segment, 1x is not always exactly 1x, but rather 1.1 or 1.2. This is a bit confusing, and not as clear as the original. This means that in simplicity, EG T6 is clearly weaker than the original. But still good considering the price.
6x magnification clarity. The optics are really good here - especially when considering the price range. Sharp edges and good reticle. The red dot has 12 adjustments, but it could be stronger, especially if you want to use the T6 as a red dot sight.
Not airsoft. EVOLUTION GEAR T6 on a civilian semi-automatic and off to the range.
And of course, the real ones are interested too: Here is the SIG SAUER optic on the new M110A1 DMR for the US Army and Air Force. This is an HK417 adapted according to customer wishes.
And that's the original. As mentioned, replica and original are two different classes, but we wanted to compare how the two behave towards each other. We found the original kindly at AUSTRIA ARMS, a highly recommended optic.
Left is the original, right is our replica. The original has a more valuable and matte coating.
The beginning of the tube. Identical.
Bottom side. The replica has finer labeling, amusingly.
The tower covers.
The adjustment wheels compared to each other.
The tower covers. The replica also audibly clicks well and adjusts nicely.
The studs on the replica (top) are more finely crafted.
And the adjustment of magnification against each other. The labeling on SIG is slightly more matte because it's lasered, EVOLUTION GEAR has a good print that is whiter. It's a bit like a well-made Rolex compared to the original. And if you're not careful, you could easily mistake it. A look through it and you immediately know what the original is, somewhere the price has to show.
Nice as well. The original comes with a practical brush tool.
We mounted EvolutionGear TANGO 6T DVO 1-6X24mm FFP Illuminated LPVO on a Steyr AUG A3Z.
And we think the combination also looks pretty good.
This is the video from the range. Here we only play at short distances with 1x. Later we also played at 100 meters and the optics proved themselves.
CONCLUSION: We know this is a replica. EvolutionGear TANGO 6T DVO 1-6X24mm FFP Illuminated LPVO performs very well for its price range (around $300). It performs even better at a distance than up close, it's sharp at the edges and doesn't adjust during a sharp shot, even though it's a clone. Using 1x at short distances works as well, but you lose some of the advantages of the good quality of a real LPVO that you can shoot with both eyes open like a Red Dot. For people who want to play with the clone for visual reasons in MilSim, it's perfect anyway.
The EvolutionGear TANGO 6T DVO 1-6X24mm FFP Illuminated LPVO together with the NF MA479 1.54" Mount is available for $325 at xxx
EVOLUTION GEAR on the internet
Next time we will try the optics with an EVOLUTION GEAR Micro as a 45-degree back-up optic, a surprisingly practical solution for a suddenly appearing close opponent.
